Christine+, CRC
Christine was ordained in April, 2003, and
served as Vicar of Trinity Church for seven years. She is involved in several local
and diocesan groups, and volunteers at the Free Store, where she has come to be
known as the “shoe lady.”
Of this last title, she says, “I am apparently the only volunteer who is willing
to sort the enormous number of shoes that come to this “ministry for the poor.”
I think of Jesus washing his disciples’ feet, and I continually bless the
shoes, and those who will wear them. I love being there, where everything is
done for the sake of the love of God, and of God’s poorest. I would not be able
to do this were it not for my association with Rivendell. My postulancy and
novitiate have encouraged me to keep a rule, learn to listen to God, and grow in
my approach to prayer. Christine was fully professed at Rivendell's
General Chapter in June, 2008.
“I reiterate what I said before, ‘I have found a family to whom I'm related by
the blood of Christ, and the DNA of the Holy Spirit. The meaning of Jesus'
words about kinship seem truer to me every day. Knowing that there are others
who are called to a manner of life that also calls me, encourages and
strengthens me in my own efforts, and helps me feel part of a community instead
of a lone stranger.’”
